چکیده

The aim of this work was to demonstrate the correspondence between a macroscopic 3D computer model of electrophysiology (i.e., the Aliev-Panfilov model) parametrized with MR data and experimental characterization of action potential propagation in large porcine hearts, ex vivo, using optical methods (based on voltage-sensitive fluorescence). A secondary goal was to use one of these studies to demonstrate an optimized method for regional adjustment of critical model parameters (i.e., adjustment of the local conductivity from the isochronal maps obtained via optical images). There was good agreement between model behaviour and experiment using fusion of optical and MR data, and model parameters from previous work in the literature. Specifically, qualitative comparison between computed and measured activation maps gave good results. Adjustment of the conductivity parameter within 26 regions fitting data from the current experiments in one heart reduced absolute error in local depolarization times by a factor of 3 (i.e. from 30 to 10 ms).

Cardiac Electrophysiology Model Adjustment Using the Fusion of MR and Optical Imaging

Despite important recent efforts in cardiac electrophysiology modelling, there is still a strong need for validating macroscopic models, that are well suited for diagnosis and treatment planning. In this paper we present a method to adjust the parameters of a macroscopic electrophysiology model on depolarisation and repolarisation maps obtained ex-vivo from optical imaging. With this imaging te...

بررسی ارزش تشخیصی MRI در مقایسه با اکوکاردیوگرافی ترانس توراسیک در تعیین خصوصیات توده های قلبی

Background: Cardiac tumors are usually asymptomatic diseases. Considering the anatomic position of the heart, it is necessary to identify their nature before every aggressive intervention. The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic performance of MRI and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) assessment of cardiac masses. Methods: In a cross-sectional survey from April 2010 to March 2013...

An Experimental Framework to Validate 3D Models of Cardiac Electrophysiology Via Optical Imaging and MRI

Our aim is to develop a framework to validate 3-D computer models of cardiac electrophysiology using measurements of action potential obtained via optical imaging (based on voltage-sensitive fluorescence), and heart anatomy and fiber directions which are obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In this paper we present preliminary results of this novel framework using a healthy porcine h...

Evaluation of Patient's Dose and Estimate of Cancer Risk in Electrophysiology Studies and Ablation in Cath Lab Center of Afshar Hospital, Yazd, Iran

Introduction: Today electrophysiology studies and ablation have been developed due to increasing arrhythmias disorder of heart. In these diagnostic – treatments methods, the use of fluoroscopy can be causes patient radiation dose, therefore evaluation of patient's absorbed dose is necessary to protection of the radiation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the absorbed dose in patients under...

Evaluation of Thymic Changes after Median Sternotomy in Children

In patients who undergo median sternotomy to treat congenital heart diseases, a thymectomy is performed to yield better access to the cardiac system. In this study we have used MRI to evaluate the changes in size, shape and location of the thymus after midsternatomy. This case-control study was performed during 2011-2012 in Shiraz, Iran. Eligible participants between 5-17 years of age were divi...
